Generally power problems with the Sony PSP 1000 mean a fault with the mainboard. This can be replaced by Console Doctor with an official Sony PSP motherboard. However repairs to a water damaged Sony PSP consoles can be complicated because it is unclear how much damage the liquid has caused. If the PSP has had a lot of water exposure it can often affect not only the mainboard but other components. In this case our engineers will assess the extent of the fault and call or email you regarding any additional costs.
Book your console under this fault if you experience any or all of these symptoms:
- Pressing the power switch will have no effect.
- No sound will be heard from the PSP 1000. There will be no mechanical sounds when a UMD is inserted.
- Often the result of water damage as this will tend to render your PSP 1000 completely unresponsive.
- The console may not even charge when the charger is inserted.
